Nestled between the Cumbrian fells and the Solway Coast on the outskirts of Silloth you will find the Silloth Care Home.
A former Victorian seaside convalescent home with a rich history in caring for the men, women and children who have passed through its doors.
Times may have changed as has the building but the homes mission to provide the very best care to its residents has not. The staff pride themselves on being one of the few select homes to have been classed as Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission.
The home comprises a total of 38 rooms of which 36 are en-suite and the other two have wash facilities and adjacent to disabled toilets. Residents to move freely around the home as all the rooms are on one level.
Although the bedrooms are comfortable and welcoming residents are encouraged to bring personal items and small pieces of their own furniture with them when they move in.
In addition to the residents own private rooms they have use of the homes communal areas.
Throughout the home you’ll discover quiet lounges and vibrant communal spaces designed to suit the mood of our residents. In total the home has three comfortable lounges each with its own distinctive feel, each of which has a television for residents use. In addition to the lounges the home has a quiet room that is used to meet in private with friends, relatives and visiting professionals. Two of Silloth Nursing Homes lounges enjoy spectacular ever changing views over the Solway Firth.
While we feel it’s important that residents maintain their independence as long as possible there comes a time where many residents will need extra support. The home has everything in place from specialist hoists to fully equipped adapted bathrooms to ensure residents are cared for and fully supported as their independence decreases.
The doorways, rooms and grounds are all wheelchair accessible ensuring that residents can always take part in the homes activities.
In the summer, our residents can take a gentle walk around the homes beautiful gardens, or sit on the sun terrace enjoying the spectacular views out over the Solway coast. Residents who have enjoyed a hobby of gardening are encouraged to continue with this interest and are always welcome to help in the garden should they wish.
The garden is not only enjoyed by our residents it’s home to a range of local wildlife including a number of rabbits who can be seen frolicking on the lawn.
